Platform Issue - The fundamentals of music have been influencing our nations for hundreds of years. It started taking its impact on me over ten years ago. But recently the performing arts has been taking a huge cut. Schools are finding themselves in a very hard predicament, the obligations of budget cuts have been giving administrators quite some grief for a long time. This ongoing dilemma shared by hundreds is starting to attack our young people, and potentially ruin their chances of reaching their full potential.
Music has made my life.
In school I excelled, with music teaching me my next move and the core of dedication and perseverance following me every step of the way. With many obstacles standing before me, I used my knowledge from music and the life skills my very influential teachers have bestowed upon me, to exceed what was expected. I know music has made me feel like I have something more to offer. It pushed me to work hard and to build a love, a passion for something that just simply makes me happy.

The most significant accomplishments regarding my Platform -
For many years I have been very involved in the Performing Arts. It all started in 2001 when I volunteered helping students perfect their talents. I helped students learn musical compositions and forwarded my knowledge onto them. During my High School career I attended quite a few District meetings regarding music and its classes. During the summers I supported musical groups and loved attending free concerts. Our districts in our very own city have made huge cuts. The arts are no longer supported and the credits for these classes have dropped, I will start attending these meetings as an activist as soon as the next one is addressed..
Issues I hope to accomplish during my Year of service -
I want to bring music classes back into the young people’s lives who were the victims of a silence. I want to make an awareness of the benefits of music and the pure fact that music is truly amazing. As Miss Pueblo County I know that my impact on young people will influence them and set an example that will show the Performing Arts, whether its singing, dancing, instrumental or acting is something that can make a difference within their lives. Attending schools, and public music conventions will show that I am dedicated to saving the music. I will make a difference, and with the help as Miss Pueblo my voice can be heard. I want young people to have an outlet for emotions and experience music the way I did.
